The new C-Class benefits from the technology that Mercedes-Benz has fitted to its larger cars over the past couple of years. The result is that it's better to drive, safer and more comfortable than ever. The entry level petrol engines are the C180 and C200 Kompressors. These two models are supercharged and offer good performance, the C230, C280 and C350 are the mid range units.

The range wouldn't be complete without the option of diesel engines, and you have the choice of three. First of the diesel units is the C200 CDI, followed by the C220CDi, then there is the more powerful C320 CDI this engine has plenty of low-down pulling power, and a top speed of 155mph. There is the option of either a six-speed manual gearbox or the seven-speed 7-GTRONIC semi-automatic gearbox, depending on the model chosen.
